  1. D.W. says:

    increase = 20% of $2. 80
    = 0. 20*2. 80
    = $0. 56
    New price is $2. 80+0. 56 = $3. 36

  2. Jay L says:

    to find 20% divide it by 10 =0. 28 double it 0. 56 add it to 2. 80 ok $3. 36 if u want to find a percentage under 10% then find 1% by dividing by 100 then times it by what it is works for me enyway am english

    1.
    Find 20% of the original price by multiplying it by . 20, then add it to the original.
    2. 80 + (2. 80 x . 20) = $3. 36 per minute.

    2.
    $24. 50 is what percent of $28? Set up a relation and cross multiply. This will tell you how much of the original price she sold the stocks for, so subtract it from 100 to find how the percent of her loss.
    (24. 50 / 28) = (x / 100)
    28x = 2450
    x = 87. 5%
    100 – 87. 5 = 12. 5% loss

    I don’t feel like doing out all the others, haha, but I hope that what I did here helps you!

  4. Mystical Oracle says:

    The problem with Math is “identifying” your problem. The problem I see you having here with the above is not really with percentages but with Algebra.

    Percentages are simply some part of the whole.
    The whole is 100% and the sum of it’s parts equal a 100%.

    If you have 10 apples then 1 apple is 1 divided by 10 or 10%
    get it?

    Algebra is a little more challenging especially when you get in to multiple variables and complex formulas.

    Math just gets to be more fun the deeper you get into it.

    Answers: 1. $3. 36 2. 12. 5% 3. Bruce $7500 Maya $11,500
    4. $12,007. 17

    I’ll be back with the actual calculations. . . .

  5. G W says:

    the term ‘percent’ or % means ‘ out of 100′

    a class has 5 students with 2 boys to 3 girls what percent are boys, what percent are girls:
    for boys: 2 divided 5 then the answer multiplied by 100
    2/5 x 100 = 40 %
    this means that 40 % of the class are boys
    60% girls

    the ‘%’ means ‘out of 100′

    therefore, if boys and girls were to be added to the class, in the same set ( 2 boys and 3 girls) until the class equals 100 students, then 40 out of the 100 students would be boys.

    1. the term ‘increased by 20%’ means that 20% of the original amount has been added to the original cost
    new price is equal to : original price + 20 %

    find out how much is 20% of $2. 80
    2. 80 x 20/100 = 56 cents
    2. 80 + 0. 56 = $3. 36

    the question want to know what is the loss in relation to the original sum of $28

    $28. 00- $24. 50 = $3. 50
    3. 50/28. 00 x 100 = 12. 5% loss
