I work from home and occasionally have conference calls with my employer?

Thе calls аrе 1-800 numbers ѕο I dο nοt gеt charged fοr thе calls… Cаn I claim οn mу taxes a рοrtіοn οf thе monthly phone bill ѕіnсе I dο υѕе thе phone fοr work related purposes? I already claim аn office, mу job іѕ entirely done frοm home…..

    Well you should be able to if its a cell phone as a land line would have to be in the business name I believe. Go to http://www. irs. gov and look in small business area. Good Luck

    You can claim a portion of your home phone or cell phone on your taxes if they are used for business purposes. It does not have to be in the name of the business. The amount you claim would be based on the amount of calls made and what percentage of those calls are for the business. The same is true for your electric utility bills.

    You need two phone lines to deduct any of the base cost. The 800-number calls did not ADD to your phone bill, so they are not deductible.

    No, normally charges for one phone that is also used for personal phone are not deductible.
    You are self employed or independent contractor. You will report your income and expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). This income is subject to SE tax at 15. 3%.
