Before we start whining about the US Mexico border have you seen the US Canada Border?

Yes thе USA Canada border іѕ аbουt аѕ secure аѕ (insert analogy thаt wουld imply ουr border іѕ nοt secure here). If уου look аt thе 9/11 commission report thеу mentioned a lot аbουt hοw thе terrorists used ουr lax enforcement οn ουr NORTHERN border against υѕ. Notice thеrе wаѕ very lіttlе аbουt thе US mexico border. Alѕο іf уου hаνе crossed those border quite οftеn іn mу case уου wουld know hοw easy іt іѕ tο illegally hop back аnd forth асrοѕѕ thе border. Very lіttlе tο nο patrol along thе grеаt lakes. One border crosses doesn’t even hаνе live crossing guards аnd іѕ done bу teleconference аnd іѕ really οnlу done based οn аn honor system. Seriously іf уου thіnk Mexico іѕ a joke look аt ουr 49th parallel.

They don’t care about our northern border, just the southern one.

  2. Razor Jim says:

No reason we can’t secure them both, gets my vote. We don’t have millions coming through the northern border, so lets get the southern one fixed first.

  3. asshat.mcpoop says:

I say we take BOTH borders, string 50 yards of electrical wire 10 feet high and 5 feet wide and zap ANYONE who crosses the border.

  4. reelperspectiv says:

Of course Mexico isn’t the only border. But is that the one that is used more frequently?

  5. edgar(back for now) lol. says:

Yeah but its not about illegal immigration is about racism with most people. like when they say, there changing our way of life.

  6. Debra H says:

. . . Difference is. . Canadians are not sneaking across to work at our low paying jobs. . . or collect benefits.

. . . . They pay better there. . . minimum wage is way higher and they have many more benefits than we do.

Anyone sneaking across that border should be caught by American Customs, should they not.

  7. StoneTroop says:

Very true. There is no active enforcement of our borders in the Great Lakes.

Not sure how secure Canada’s borders are though. I wonder if it is more difficult to get into Canada and slip past, or just try to slip past our own security.

  8. tony a says:

seal it all up. thats what I say

  9. ricmon87 says:

Yes, and there has never been any connection or foiled plot from terrorists from the Southern Border, it really has nothing to do with terrorism.

  10. nite scope says:

An has there been 12+=million come down there has come up.

  11. mcsmoothearl says:

Yeah, buddy . . . those millions and millions of illegal Canadians are really causing a problem in MY state, let me tell you . . .

  12. Richard S says:

Have over 20 million illegal illiterate Canadians come across our borders? Many Canadians do not want to come here even on vacation.

  13. Jazz2007 says:

I have not seen it, but I bet no one is actually watching it or paying really close attention to it like we are to the US/Mexico border.

  14. Michael Kelly says:

    Hello,

    1) Canadians aren’t kicking the doors off the hinges to get into the states. They got good salaries, jobs and a universal health care system.

    2) We have to go through Canada to get to Alaska. Imagine a border tightened up so hard it would be as hard to get to our own piece of turf up there as to get into Korea or China.

    3) When the EUC is surging ahead with their borders more open are we not going to shoot ourselves economically in the foot by going backwards against world trends? They are America’s biggest trading partner; screw things up, make things difficult and they’ll find new ones.

    4) Got any ideas about tourism? People on both sides have always loved the convenience of easy access back and forth.
Any idea how much they spend in the US? Check the stats.
Make things difficult and they’ll find other countries like Cuba and South America where food, fun and drinks are much cheaper than in the US.

    5) This whole border security issue reminds me so much of the gun control issue. Everytime someone is shot, firearms become the scape goat to take attention away from social and law enforcement incompetence. Similarily this border security issue acts out in the same way. The terrorists who successfully attacked the US were legally admited and one in Oklahoma was one of our own. Look at any countries left in the world with strong, tough borders starting with Russia, China or Japan and they still get whacked. These people who want to do harm are not stupid and will always find a way to get even such as attacking people abroad etc.

The only joke about the border is that USA will only be punishing and restricting herself in such a cleanup campaign.

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

Before we start whining about how lax the US borders are, has anyone noticed that every nation in the world has secure borders except the States?

And has anyone noticed that no one has ever called THEM racist for minding their own business?

Which border do MOST of the illegals cross? The MEXICAN border!

When you have a flood, you take care of that first. The trickle is taken care of later! GET REAL!

  17. spirit dummy says:

Yes, it is easier for terrorists to come over the Canadian border vs. the Mexican border. .

However, I don’t see 700,000 Canadians per year illegally trespassing into the U. S.

The average Canadian is better educated and has more skills than the average U. S. resident. They choose not to live in the U. S. because they are smart. .

Just imagine the cost to the taxpayers if the Mexican border was as porous as the Canadian border. I’m guessing perhaps 30 to 40 million illegal immigrants with limited education or skills.

  18. niet de duivel says:

While I won’t side with the Canadian government on Afghanistan or with Bush on his wars in Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq (total policy failure based on racism and colonialism and on the false premise of pre-emptive war to prevent national security threats), I will agree with Americans about our borders, refugee policy, passports and national security. The people behind 9/11 came through our country, were granted legal asylum here and had come from questionable countries with questionable policies in the Middle East. Trust me when I say that if a country is an enemy of Israel it is an enemy of the West. This doesn’t mean I reject the two-state solution but consider the bombings of synagogues in South America over the last ten years. Consider that many Jews were at risk for being taken hostage in Budapest, Hungary last year. We allow these people into our country and if they hate Israelis and Americans, why would we want them? We have troops in Afghanistan and we allow people in who want to bomb downtown Toronto and then people protest their being held without bail in jail on national security certificates because it’s a ‘human rights violation’? What about Toronto? Why must we engage in self-destructive policies that will turn us into the Netherlands, France or the U. K. in ten years?

  19. steven l says:

Border security is a joke period. But the biggest problem is currently at our southern border. With mexico’s depressed economy sneaking into the US is very appealing. Canadians on the otherhand, dont have the messed up government and economy that the mexicans do and therefore have little impetus to illegally enter the US. This fact does not however eliminate the need to secure ALL of our borders. The possibility of terrorists moving dangerous materials over either border is unacceptable, and the illegal entry of foreign nationals must be stopped regardless of national origin.

  20. amnesty_sucks says:

Give me a break! Take care of the broken dam first. After that you take care of the dripping faucet! You fix the major problem first before it causes more damage.

The dam is Mexico. Canada is the “drip. “

  21. nobodysfool says:

That´s intresting since we Mexican citizens don´t need a visa to enter Canada. Maybe they should stop trying to cross the southern border risking their lives and fly to Toronto!!!!
