I trust thаt thе CIA mіght listen іn οn thе phone calls οf known terror suspects аnd those whο wουld finance thеіr attacks οn America. Out οf аll thе people іn thіѕ country, dο liberals really thіnk іt іѕ thеm thаt thе CIA іѕ listening іn οn?? Thаt thе CIA іѕ gathered around a conference room table іn Washington DC listening іn οn such conversations аѕ “ѕο lіkе whο dο уου thіnk ѕhουld win American Idol?” Or “dude, whο dο уου thіnk wіll win thе Super Bowl?”
I mean thеѕе people аrе PARANOID. Nο wonder thе 9/11 conspiracy theories аrе ѕο рοрυlаr wіth thеm.
I аѕk thіѕ qυеѕtіοn bесаυѕе thаt’s thе іdеа I gοt frοm thе libs whο аnѕwеrеd mу last qυеѕtіοn. Thе girl gοt 4 thumbs up, ѕο I figure еνеrу liberal believes thаt аnd іѕ paranoid.

Remember Nixon, we just don’t trust Republicans after that.
These conspiracy theorists are just incredibly self-important. They validate themselves by imagining they are important enough for the government to want to target them. Frankly, it doesn’t bother me or anyone I know. After all, if they listen in to my phone conversations I would imagine the only valuable thing they would learn would be the toppings I like on my pizza.
They hate everybody in the CIA. Oh, except Valerie Plame.
They do listen in and they read this stuff too. Why do all my Mom’s questions about Nafta get her suspended if they don’t.
i’m sure the domestic eavesdropping has been used more against bush political enimies than it has against “al-qaida” after all the democrat party really exists, al-qaida who knows.
remember watergate. . . . is bush any better than nixon. . . . . . or clinton, didn’t they find his ploitical foes tax records in the whitehouse
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, you neocons just can’t have it both ways. Either the government is completely inept and can’t be trusted to provide health care or regulate businesses, in which case it is HIGHLY believable that they would screw up and tap anybody’s phone without knowing what they were doing – or – the government is very honest, trustworthy, competent and efficient and would never wiretap regular citizens, in which case we should have national health care for everyone and it would be beautifully run.
What you don’t get to say is that the government is far too inept to run anything like health care but at the same time is totally competent to decide who to wiretap and do it without error.
One or the other.
wow, that’s not a generalization at all.
we just know that the government has the ability and the “just cause” to listen to our conversations, and that bothers us. i think we’d rather just feel comfortable airing our criticisms of the government rather than feeling afraid that our government will punish us for not being “patriotic. ”
wiretapping our own citizens is illegal, unconstitutional, and wrong. they’re not differentiating between terrorists and those of us who are critical of the government.
I have heard that all outgoing and incoming emails are being monitored by the company, to detect key words contained in these transmissions, and cell phone communication traffic is also being monitored, all under the Patroit Act, which, incidently is legal and necessary in the fight against terrorism and those factions that are supporting them financially and morally.
America is at war, and when your fighting an elusive and dangerous enemy, you use whatever is available to defeat such an enemy, any way that you can, whenever you can, if you ever hope to win!
Sometimes being paranoid, is the difference between living or dying!
You ever notice that there isn’t any blue collar liberals. . . . They are just rich people with too much time on their hands or they are doing alot of dope and thats probably what makes them all paranoid. I don’t see too many of them getting involved with helping people. get a life in the real world libs!
If you “trust” the CIA, if you completely trust the motives of every person privy to getting this information, and if you completely trust the motives of those in government then you don’t know too much about history. History is full of examples of people who “trusted” their government to do the right thing and then realized the truth too late. It’s not thinking the CIA is listening to my Aunt Betty telling me about her visit to the doctor, it’s opening that door in the first place to allow that at all. German’s trusted Hitler. People afraid to death of communism ate up McCarthy’s b. s. with a spoon and thousands of innocent people had their lives ruined because of it. We trusted the government to do the right thing when they put Japanese Americans in internment camps too, and years later paid reparations and apologized. Our government conducted experiments on African American men without their knowledge. Do the names Nixon and Watergate ring any bells either?
And by the way? I’m not a liberal. Just someone who understands history and the reason it is important to protect our civil liberties lest they be used against us.
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ”
Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
US author, diplomat, inventor, physicist, politician, & printer (1706 – 1790)
Actually, its the NSA, and from what my senator said, the possibility is very likely that they are.
Btw anyone who considers themselves patriotic, and honors the American way of life, is born paranoid of the federal government.
Paranoid and dumb. Remember Nixon? He has nothing to do with our current situation and their bringing him up just leaves me to believe they have no concept of the facts concerning him.
EDIT: Funny that they fear the federal government so much but want to elect hillary whose platform rest solely upon expanding it.
I though it was conservatives who think they need a gun to resist the Federal government in case it gets too repressive.
